FAQs

Is there an age minimum to participate?

Yes, participants must be at least 10 years old to race the course. Ages 12 to 17 can participate only when running with an adult entered in the race, and will need to show proof of age. Ages 18 and beyond do not have any limitations to their entry; they will simply need to show an ID to confirm their entry.

Is the event a timed race?

No – NiteRun events are intended to be a fun way of building up physical strength and agility as well as mental creativity and stimulation. You are welcome to bring your own timers and time yourself. We will be starting our live music and other celebratory activities at a given time regardless of whether or not all the runners have completed the course.

What is included in my registration?

We give you your very own headlamp to guide you through the night. You will also receive a race packet and drinks/snacks! T-shirts and hats will be available for purchase at the event.

Is this associated with any charity?

Yes, the proceeds from NiteRun events are donated to various charities, including JDRF Hawaii (formerly the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii. See event details to find out which charity your entry will support!

Can I bring my pet to the event?

No, I’m sorry we do not allow pets at our events.

Are strollers allowed?

Yes, jogging strollers are allowed for parents with small children! No need to register your keiki if they are under 10 years old and can ride in a stroller. Be prepared to push a stroller on various types of terrain!

How does the Packet-Pick-up work?

You will be able to pick up your race packet on the day of the event. Please see event details for dates and times. Upon checking in with your photo ID, you will receive a headlamp, race number, and any other relevant information. We will send out a reminder email to all our registered participants as we get closer to the event. Be sure to Like Us on Facebook so you can keep up with the latest news on event preparation.

Can someone else pick up my packet for me?

Yes, but they must have a filled-out waiver form when picking it up so we know they have your permission. You can download our Entry Form to use as a waiver.

What about Late Registration?

Registration will be available on the day of the event if you did not pre-register. Please see event details for the schedule of events for race day.

What do I need to wear to the event?

Closed-toed shoes that you can run in and an outfit that is easy to run and climb in. Because we are running at night, we also recommend bringing something to keep you warm like legwarmers, sweatpants, a beanie, or light sweater.

Can I transfer my registration to someone else?

Yes, but this must be done in advance by filling out a transfer form. Contact us for more information.

How will we see the course?
  • We have the course marked with LED lights every 100 meters to keep you on track
  • We provide you with headlamps to wear throughout the course
  • You can bring your own headlamps to provide even more light if you wish
  • And don’t forget the natural moonlight!
